One of the few ships who earned fame trough sheer tenacity and bravery that speaks for her war records and experience and actions unlike some who is basedly on stats

Just like HMS Warspite, USS Enterprise was a ship that reached legendary status in Naval history and was wrongfully scarped. : (
To express my feelings about this I shall quote the purple man with the rock collection: 'Reality is often disappointing'

My dad served in the Pacific. He told stories of Toyko Rose, she said several times the Enterprise was sunk. The problem with that was my dad saw her steaming by.

I’d love to have been able to step aboard that mighty vessel before it was scrapped.

A true testament of conviction, of the ships crew, and the men and women that built, and kept her, a formidable force.
We could use some of that today.

USS Enterprise was my favorite aircraft carrier in ww2 for America aside from the Essex class aircraft carrier

retired Army, just learned of the ringing of her bell after a Navy victory over my Black Knights of the Hudson. it is good that the rivalry is so even and that the greatest warship in American History is honored in such a fashion. Go Army Beat Navy!

No idea Enterprise was at one point the only carrier in the Pacific. Amazing fact. Shame she was not allowed to become museum ship. Good video.

Enterprise left the war on May 14 1945 at the Battle of Okinawa. After a Kamikaze flew into her flight deck and blew up her forward elevator.

Best ship since I got fascinated about WW2 Pacific Theatre and it still pains me why they scrapped such a ship with great value. Just disappointing.

I don’t know if I’m remembering this right, but the Big E was only called the grey ghost after it became the first US carrier to do night operations and it’s survive number was changed to CVN-6
