To me, both amps sounded great in their own way.

The cheap amp had a "purer" clean tone, but the tube amp had more "bite" in the picking attack (due to being overdriven), making it sound more "dynamic". Also, it had a "fatter" overall tone, because of subtle tube distortion.

Ultimately, "great" tone is in the ears of the beholder 😂

Been playing guitar for 40 years and can't afford a $1300 amp. The donner sound pretty good considering it's super cheap cost.

I'd be willing to bet that without that mic only audio, the "in the room sound" is quite different because of the speakers. The small amp actually sounds pretty decent... at least clean and mic'd up.

Tbh ppl when they mic up a cheap amp on YouTube they sound way better then they do in person cuse your not hearing it through that cheap speaker your hearing after it's been edited into a video and some ppl don't edit the sound of it at all but it still does sound better through a mkc no matter what. If you want to prove it for your self take a pa speaker or even computer speakers and plug then into your cheap practice amp via the aux chord through the head phones port on the cheap amp or a mic Infront of the cheap amp going to a pa speaker and play it it will sound way better then if you was playing it through the speaker it came with, you can make a cheap battery powered vox headphone amps sound amazing by plugging then into computer speakers via aux chord or even those battery powered marshall mini stack amps that tack a 9v put a mic Infront of it and through a pa speaker or record it into your computer I garuntee you it will sound like a completely different amp.

Should use a cheap cab as well. Aint nobody getting a cheap head with a super expensive cab. Comparison is irrelevant.

$1300 isn’t an expensive amp anymore. 2 of my tube amps are worth about $4000 each, which is a common price for many good tube amps now, and there are even more expensive ones out there (Wizard, Dumble etc.) That’s not to say that $1300 isn’t a lot of money for some people, we all have different budgets and perceived cost is relative… but a $1300 amp isn’t expensive, objectively speaking. It’s mid-level at most.

This is rather misleading. How can you tell by listening to a telephone? How can one tell if they're not in the room, or if the previous two conditions were met, is the listener a beginner? Biased? Deaf?!
