Don Rickles is one of, if not the greatest insult comic ever. By todays standards they would try to cancel him but literally every comedian loves him and considers it an honor to be insulted by Rickles. He insults everyone, including himself, but he always ends his bits with classsy, heartfelt remarks. Mr. Warmth will be missed.

People considered it an honour to be insulted by this man. An absolute legend.

He is savage when he’s on stage, but everyone has said he is the most loving and kind person off stage. His insults were never said with malice or hate, but purely for the laugh. He’s the GOAT.

Back in the day when we could laugh at one another and still stay friends

To be insulted by Don Rickles was a badge of honor

He was apparently quite generous and friendly off stage. There are numerous stories of him roasting couples at his shows only to receive a bouquet and wine afterwards. One story about him roasting a couple on their honeymoon at a hotel/casino discovered upon check-out that Rickles had paid their bill in full. That's class.

Rickles was a war veteran. Last of the real OG’s. Was involved with presidents, Sinatra, the Mafia. Sharp Fearless Man.

Welcome back to a time when people could actually laugh at differences and embrace the fact that not everything is triggering.

I'm a 60 year white man. And I just wanted to thank you for letting me hang out vicariously with you. I smiled and gasp the whole time, right with you guys. God bless

As a 66 year old woman I grew up watching him on Johnny Carson and laughed at it. Humor can open doors for conversation.God bless!

Absolutely brilliant! If comedy was still like that we'd be a happier country!

Rickles was savage and didn't hold back on anyone. To be on the receiving end of one of his insults was something to treasure forever. The Meanest Man In Showbusiness was actually one of the warmest, kindest, sweetest men in entertainment. What a treasure he was.

Don Rickles and Sammy Davis Jr were such extremely close friends to where when he finished his bit at Sammy's roast, Rickles grabbed Sammy into a big hug and kissed him right there on stage. Off stage he was known as one of the kindest, gentlest, accepting men in the world and was loved by all, but especially his friends who comprised many of his most often chosen targets, If you were supposed to be a "somebody" but was consistently ignored by Rickles, then you were actually a "never was" or a "has been" of no importance. Even regular audience members would pray to be picked on because it gave them status and bragging rights,

My Hispanic cousin and friends attended his show in Las Vegas. All night he kept walking to them and telling Hispanic jokes. Next to them was a table of friends who are black. After the show, he brought each table a bottle of champagne and sat with them and visited and explained that his show/routine was not how he felt or believed about any of the groups he berated, but it was a time when stereotypes were accepted as just funny and not mean-spirited. We have lost the ability to laugh at ourselves and take every comment as an insult. Yes, there are racists who would love to perpetuate many of these stereotypes, if we take the power to be hurt by their words away from them, that also takes away their ability to hurt us. 19:26

His roasts of people were savage and timeless. His timing and delivery was one of a kind and never felt personal.

Don was an absolute treasure. The best interview ever was on David Letterman and Denzel Washington stayed out because he loved Don so much. He laughed so hard at Don the entire time and showed him immense respect as Don did to him
