Im a wound care nurse. I see tons of calluses in my field. Please do understand that if u have a callus that means you are put too much pressure in that area and its your body way to defend it self from pressure. That being said. It also means you have to correct that pressure problem- whether its getting new inserts for shoes or wearing protective gear on that area to PREVENT the callus. Especially if you experience it on your feet and you are also a diabetic. This could lead to wounds that will be difficult to heal in the future.
She is rite do NOT go to far when filing. Hope this helps 😊

Yessss ma’am! I’m a nurse and you wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve seen from people “diy”ing themselves. I appreciate how you always think safety and health first before anything. ❤❤❤

I had a nail lady file down my knife callus. Chef's *need* those calluses for work! We can't have polish on our nails, so I just wanted my nails cleaned up and my hands massaged. She wrecked all the hard work I had built up to protect my hands. I was devastated but she didn't know any better. 😔

I always file to smooth them not remove them. Help get rid of the roughness especially when they have bulked up. Some people seriously need them like dancers.

I work in a deli, and I have calluses on my right hand where I hold the handle of the slicer and you're right, I need them. My hand would probably hurt after holding that handle all day.

I want you to know that it was because of a comment you made like this (May have even been THIS comment from a video previous) that encouraged me to be brave and tell my pedicure tech that i DONT want the cheese grater. As great as it made my skin feel for the first day or two, it wasnt worth it because the callous comes back thicker and rougher :(

I had one in my thumb from cutting hair. I removed it after I retired. I removed it and covered it with a bandage. I was sooo worried about it but it was successful thank God!

I’ve always heard that if you try to remove calluses, that they grow back faster and bigger.

100%!! As a dancer and dance teacher, I have pretty brutal calluses on my feet - tap shoes are not forgiving! But I still need those calluses or I get BAD blisters that I can't even walk on. So every not and then if they're getting too thick and starting to hurt, I'll take a pumice stone to them and thin them down a little, but most of it stays so I can keep walking and working!

As someone who has callouses, cracked skin, and ragged cuticles, they get picked because I want them removed. That stuff doesn't appear out of nowhere. It can be embarrassing for others to see my overworked hands. People judge. It's not nice. 😢

I learned my lesson from using a pumice stone on my feet all the time. Really really bad idea😂😂 especially if you're someone who's standing a lot or just walking in general. You need those calluses to protect your feet from hurting like hell😂😂 So I just tried to smooth them out with like a file or something and not take the callus off because I need that😂😂😂 Like I really really need that😂😂

Me: “I don’t know…I don’t like callus”
**Suzy’s reassuring giggle**
Me: “yeah ok, I’ll leave it”

❤😂❤

I always try to tell my clients this when I do their pedicures when they want me to remove all the calluses…. but then I just get yelled at, then them calling my boss complaining that I did a half assed job.

I needed to hear this. I usually make myself bleed when I do my nails. My husband threatens to put socks on my hands and hide my weapons of destruction (cuticle nippers).

i removed some on the corner of my thumbnail and now i'm paying the price 🥲 the skin keeps opening up and usualy it would close, but it's been a couple months now... still open.
i think this is also why some of my nails are becoming fan-shaped so i'm trying leave the dry skin around my nails alone.

I'm an electrician and I have calluses on my hands. Every time I remove them it just comes back anyways.
