In this devlog episode of Punch A Bunch we work on implementing sound effects. We also start working on the environment! :D

Punch A Bunch is a physics based boxing game, developed by Pontypants. I'm working in Unreal Engine 4 and Blender. Our dog's name is Zelda, but we call her Ziggy :)

You should make a stage in a kiddy pool with the boxing ring on one of those floaty things.

Ponty: Psss
Ziggy: So you have chosen... death.

The camera should shake a little when hard punches happen.

I think it would be cool if the spectators had idle animations and if every time a fighter gets a good hit or a fighter is knocked out the crowd would cheer and celebrate. Loving the series!

Okay, for the stamina thing, i had the idea: When stamina is low, adjust the flexibility of the ragdoll physics, so it looks like the boxer has lower energy in his muscles and also he reacts a lot more to hits. it is something that you kinda have to get used to to get a feeling for how low the stamina acutally is, but optionally you can add a bar somewhere, like under his feet in circular shape, to get a more accurate information.
but i think the floppiness of the body indicating the fatigue of the boxer is a nice idea and maybe you can make something from it.

Again, another freakin' banger! I think you may have just inspired me to make my own sounds for my games. :) Not only are your videos entertaining and hilarious, they're full of information that any game developer should find useful! Keep it up bro! Already looking forward to the next. ;)

It would be cool to add physics to the crowd so every time a hard punch lands they wobble

Can we create a "Kool Pegboard" with all those people giving a small idea, but not deserving the Epik one?

I think you should make the "playroom" more like toy story. Maybe it will inspire you. Keep up that epic content xd

You could do something like make a heart thumping fast and heavy breathing sound when the player keeps constantly stringing hard hits without resting. If the player keeps on with it ignoring the sound cues then the player starts losing health and may even die. And you may also use a red vignette that develops slowly, indicating the stamina is low. About the player dying when the health starts depleting, you could also maybe program it like such that after a certain point of health diminished due to stamina, the player character stops responding to inputs from controller for a few secs and loops a tired animation with arms dangling by the side and some cool stars or cuckoo birds flying around the character's head ( I think this cartoony effect will go perfectly with the kid's room setup). That way the player can't spam and mash buttons and will actually have to think about strategically throwing punches as in real boxing. I hope you read this comment and I hope it's epikk enough lol.
P.S. Love these devlogs. Keep 'em coming.

Making some of the spectators move in a simple manner, like by shaking their hands or something, would really make the background come alive.

For the thing about stamina, do something like in Wii sports resort biking, where the players head goes red and then he starts to sweat and stuff, that could be a good indicator

10:53 hmmm, those camera moves can be played at the beginning of every match as an intro 👍🎥

I think maybe for the stamina it might cool if the head and legs get floppier to kind of make it feel like they are more tired. and maybe if they are basically out have them hunch over a bit idk tho love the series!
