With the Novation Impulse you get per channel aftertouch, which for dance styles, film & trailer work, orchestral, and in general, is impossible to overrate, since you can add expression with the fingers of your hands without taking them off (which is needed to use the mod wheel). So with this keyboard if you DO use the modwheel you can simultaneously control 2 parameters, and interact with how they sound during your performance. Imagine that Mod wheel and aftertouch are set up so one controls filter cutoff and the other controls resonance, that's just one example but hopefully that makes it clear. On the used market other 61 key keyboards with aftertouch go for a bit more, and retail they usually go for much, much more.

Thanks for this video. I use the Impulse 49 in combination with the Ketron SD40. The operation of the sd40 (sliding) on the Impulse seems very functional to me. How did you set that up on the Impulse and the ketron? You would help me a lot with that.
I am also now experimenting with Native instruments on the Impulse. The Impulse has folders through which settings are ready. Under 11 with me Kontakt in the Impulse. Experience with it? If so, how do I set it up?
