My therapist told me to say "the door is locked." When locking the door because it's healthier to constantly mentally repeat that you said you locked the door when you did it, instead of constantly mentally asking yourself if you lock the door.
It helps so much.

Before I leave the house for a walk I always think that I have so much to do and can't "afford" to go for a walk. Then I stay home and procrastinate.. 😢

I’ve engraved habits like patting my pockets and looking back where I was sitting when getting up to leave

As an adult over 50 who has been dealing with ADHD his entire life, I can confirm every day is a definite challenge. Nice to see this issue being addressed and educating people why we are how we are!😊

Are you team “can’t stand socks 🙅‍♀️” or team “must wear socks at all times 🧦” ?

A coworker of mine who's diagnosed with ADHD is actually why I'm looking so much into now. I've been at my current job for 4 months and he says I remind him of how he used to be before he got on medication.

The talks with him plus what I've been researching has me thinking I met have ADHD and I just learned to mask it. But life's getting harder and I'm getting older and I feel so lost.

I'm looking into health insurance plans so I can find a therapist because if my hunch turns out to be true, so much in my life will finally align and I can stop feeling like some lazy, crazy, scatterbrained bum. Thank you so much for this content!

Thank you!!!! Can you imagine growing up in the 60’s and 70’s before it had a name? It was truly traumatic.

It always seems to overstimulate me especially in the summer when it's hot and bright and so many people are out.

I literally have to warn people at work about if I randomly walk up to them and just stand there to ignore me. Because Ive just become lost and will walk off moments later to either go back to something, or go do something else before getting back to my original tasks.

I am an ADHDer so I appreciate the reassurance these shorts have given me.

I started noticing that I have ADHD tendencies last year when I got to university (only got formally diagnosed a few weeks ago), so I started using a bunch of planners/calendars and tried keeping to a routine as much as possible. My theory was that if every day is the same then I’ll remember to do what needs to be done. Sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t, but it was way worse without the routine and calendars

As a child I would always put my socks 2/3 of the way on and flip the remaining part up over my foot before I put my shoe on because I couldn’t stand the feeling of the sock seam touching the outside of my toes. I would also have to have my bed sheets perfectly tight because my feet feeling the wrinkles would drive me crazy and I wouldn’t be able to sleep! 🤦‍♂️

For the socks I have issues with or are old… I just turn them inside out. Works almost every time

Having to explain to family members that, when I’m frantically looking for the keys and yell, “where are my keys?!” I’m not demanding an answer from them, I’m talking to myself outloud.

My goodness!
I'm not the only one who has sensory issues with socks?!

I thought I was just some kind of swamp monster 😩

The funny thing is that walks without certain plan or destination (shop, Uni, work) are so good for me
Most people don’t get why I’m so happy when we’re just mindlessly walking

I remember as a kid, having to line my socks up because if thay seam by my toes was anywhere near the side or bottom of my foot, i couldn't walk. Also, lotion sensitivity was a big one, too. I remember taking so long putting lotion on my body because when my mom would do it, i would rub it off with a towel because of the sensory overload.
