How to Record HDR Gameplay using Nvidia Shadowplay? You will need an HDR capable monitor and an Nvidia graphics card in your pc setup to do this. Make sure you set Nvidia shadowplay to record gameplay with in-game graphics and have HDR turned on windows 10 display settings in to make this work. No hdr capture card required to record hdr gaming videos. How to record gameplay on pc using shadowplay you would press ALT+F9 in a game.

I've been trying to record Resident Evil Village for the past six hours, I've watched countless videos in an attempt to figure out why my HDR game resolution and HDR monitor resolution didn't result in HDR playback resolution, I needed to set my capture resolution to "In-game", thank you Angelskydragon!

My playback is still broken, the image is over saturated as if HDR video is being processed by non HDR software, thanks anyways :(

To any new viewers. This might fix it for the time you currently set it up. But once you restart or shut down your PC. It will go back to being washed out. NVIDIA have done a poor job at making a permanent fix for this. The only way i used to get it to work on a current boot was to disable both HDR and Overlay and re-enable. Big bummer as i used to find it super easy to record until using HDR.

I'll try this and hopefully it works, I had it set to 4k i stead of ingame and it would always record in 1080p instead. Also...the recordings would look dark and heavy contrast for some reason too. I turned off HDR and the recordings would come out fine but I want HDR lol

Quite frankly, that's not an HDR recording, just a 10 bit recording. The final result lacks HDR metadata, so it is not HDR at all, because playback devices don't know how to play the video. It requires more to record an HDR video than just recording a normal video with HDR enabled. Incredible how many people don't understand HDR at all.

Really curious how you got the HDR recording to work, did you need to adjust your monitor to a different color space?

My recordings when in HDR just break shadowplay and the feature turns off after like 15 seconds

I tried this on my 1660 Ti laptop connected to Samsung QLED via HDMI 2.0 on Hitman 3, Death Stranding, RDR2 but it only recorded in 8bit BT601 washed out colors. What does the codec info says on your file?
