The Biden administration has decided to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions as part of a new weapons package set to be announced on Friday. Cluster bombs - which were also used in Syria's civil war - release large numbers of smaller explosives that can kill and maim indiscriminately over a wide area. More than 120 countries have banned the weapons. The group Human Rights Watch says both Russia and Ukraine have used cluster munitions in the conflict.

These type of munitions are the solution to well dug in troops in the trenches. If the Russians don't want to feel their impact, pack up and leave!

Well, either the troops have air support or these ground launched support solutions. The difference being that Ukraine will not bomb suburbs in Russia.

The US has been dismantling them for a few years now. Better to put them to actual use.
People say "they're going to leave unexploded ordnance around for civilians" well there are tens of thousands of mines littered around the fields already and the Ukraine is using the cluster munitions in their own territory so they know where they are being used so they can clear them after the war. It's not like Vietnam where nobody really knew where they were used.

Good. Its the only way Ukraine can dispatch Russian mobilised orcs faster with minimal losses to AFU troops.

If you are trying to tell me that I have to protect myself according to international law, you have to be out of your mind. Russia is using against civilians and soldiers in Ukraine. Tell "HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH" to come and protect Ukrainians, then Ukrainians may start listning to those

Cluster bombs are very accurate. Theyre designed to hit the ground, and this they always do.

They probably got there last week when talks started to be public about it.

I know there is a lot of controversy over Cluster Munitions but Russia used them in Chechnya and Syria so I don't see any reason why Ukraine can't.

While these are partially banned, neither the USA, Russia, or Ukraine has banned them, I don't see the issue.

Just hearing this chick sucking in as much air as she can is hilarious throughout her talk 😂

Russia has used several types of prohibited bombs (phosphorous bombs, cluster bombs, thermobaric bombs etc etc) and, despite the denunciations, continues to use them. I think it's great that Ukraine is now raining cluster bombs on the Russian Trenches and ending that invading Plague once and for all.

The U.S. said that the version of cluster bombs that are being sent have a very low failure rate for the bomblets. Around 3%. They have 24 hour timers to explode after use as well if they don't initially explode.

It's always a good thing when one questions another's ideas.. especially regrading the narrative.

Ukraine has the right to use them on Ukrainian territory.

I think one reason, is that Ukraine agreed to quarantine the area where they are dropped. When the U.S. drops them, it's called a "kill zone". We mark that area and disarm any left over munitions after the conflict has subsided. I have been in combat, in a few areas where those munitions were used. Most do detonate. Right after, EOD comes in with an interpreter, and explains the situation to the locals. EOD then quickly clears the area.

Cluster bombs are not much different than saturating a kill zone with multiple automatic grenade launchers. Or airborne cannons and guns.
