Speed Test: TI-83 Plus Silver Edition vs. TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition

This video shows a test of speed between the TI-83 Plus SE and the TI-84 Plus C SE. They both have a Zilog z80 process which runs up to 15 MHz. The four tests are:

1. Graphing y = sin(e^x)
2. Use a For loop to count to 1,000
3. Take an inverse of a 10 x 10 matrix of random integers
4. Solve an equation

The results may be surprising.

The reason the ti 84 plus c is a bit slower is because of the specifications nearly being the same as the ti 83. The ti 84 is essentially a ti83 with a screen that's like 4 times as dense with pixels

The TI-83 is far easier on the eyes. I love the LCD.

Who would want to stare at a computer screen on a calculator when you already have to do that all day at work!

Funny to see in retrospect. The Ti-84 CSE was discontinued after 1 year.

I had the clear one, and my sister took it to college and came back with them all old and used up 😅

And now I don’t have it. Not sure what she did with it 😞

Thanks for posting this comparison. Two notes: (1) it's "KEH-meh-tek" (hard C); (2) note that the TI-84+CSE is computing the Y-value of your equation at 265 points, whereas the TI-83+SE is computing it at 96 points. Is the 83+SE ~265/96=2.76x faster?

the ti83 is faster because it has a fucking etch a sketch display. lmao
