On the previous video "A4 Border & Template" about 9 minutes in you are shown how to create layers.
Each tutorial video continues on from the last one and this vid starts with reference to the previously created template.
If you need to create a layer then click on the Layer Properties Icon [found in the top left of the Layers pallette and then choose New Layer within the dialogue box].

awesome tutorial btw we dont get taught viewports in class. i had a friend tell me about it and it is sick for printing to certain scales on the fly.good jarb

Yep, spot on but like anything in CAD it can be done a number of ways.

no prob. one more quick question. is there a huge difference between auocad 2011 and autcad 2012?

yeah we work with classic too, why do teachers do that. is it better just to learn the latest version on my own or continue learning classic from the teacher. what is the big difference? im assuming speed is one thing.

Not much as far as I can tell. I think they added more stuff for parametric modelling.
