What is a logarithm? A no fuss start!

I really like your exploding dots notation. And while this does help make logarithms more managable I think the "triangle of power" as demonstrated by the fantastic youtube math channel 3Blue1Brown is more elegant since it unifies logs, roots and exponents into 1 simple symbol.

Logarithm is Latin which translates as ratio-number.

It’s beyond belief that people are still using the word log for power. A good example of how maths can be so stick in the mud. What is preventing mathematicians from abandoning the word log?
