Self Sustainable Farming and Gravity Irrigation System | Arecanut Gravity Drip Irrigation System

Показать описание
This farmer is irrigating 500 areca nut plants with this amount of water! That too without using electricity or water pump system. Sounds unreal right. But it is true. In this video, we will discuss this self-sustainable farm model in detail. Watch this video till the end.
This is sarvotham shetty. He is from Kasaragod district, Kerala. last year He thought of making an areca nut farm in a barren land. The top portion of this hill is covered by his own rubber farm. Those trees will help the soil to absorb rainwater. He thought, there must be a good amount of groundwater.
so he dug one horizontal borewell in the middle portion of the hill, it is actually covered by a rubber farm. This kind of borewell does not require an electric motor system to pump water. 24 into 7 water comes out like this.
He got this much water. It doesn't look much. Then he measured water to understand how much water getting from the horizontal Borwell per day. He came to know that he is getting over 2000 liters of water within 24 hours, that too at the end of the summer season.
In this region, Arecanut farming is very common. There is really good profit too. Arecanut trees require 4 liters of water every day. So he calculated that 2000 liters are more than enough to feed 500 areca nut trees.
This year, at the end of the rainy season he planted areca nut plants at the lower part of the hill. Then he decided to use gravitational energy to irrigate the entire farm. If he stores water in the pond, then the water may get absorbed by the soil. To avoid that he kept a plastic barrel right below the borewell. And he kept 2000 liter tank at the top portion of the areca nut farm. then he transferred water from barrel to tank using a pipe. it works by the principle of gravitational energy and suction force. From 2000 liter tank, water is distributed all over the farm using PVC pipe. now he was irrigating the entire farm with the help of a pipe system, that too using gravitational force. Now he was thinking of installing a drip irrigation system using the same gravitational energy.
He was not using electricity or a water pump to irrigate the entire land. he is doing a brilliant job right? Hat's off to this farmer.
This self-sustainable farm may motivate a lot of people to do agriculture in hilly slant areas. So, share this video with all your friends.
