Workflows the Open Source way - with BPMN 2.0 and camunda BPM

Source code is rarely understood by the business people. So we write user stories, epics or other forms of textual requirement specifications to discuss features and changes. What if you could have these discussions based on graphical models and then make them part of your code? The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is a worldwide ISO standard not only to draw but also to execute business processes. Camunda is an Open Source platform for workflow and business process automation. It executes BPMN 2.0, is very light-weight and scales like hell. Additionally camunda contains the first Open Source implementation of a new standard called Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN), which handles situations where users need more flexibility to decide on next actions. The engine is implemented in Java, but can also be used in other languages through its REST API or JavaScript SDK. This session gives a hands-on introduction to the Open Source camunda BPM platform - expect more live coding than slides. Furthermore, we want to share insights of our real-life project experience, for example Zalando processing huge amounts of orders over the platform.
