If you've ever caught a fish while cleaning out your backlash go ahead and smash that like button!

I got my first baitcaster a few weeks ago and took it out for the first time yesterday. Thanks to this video, I had minimal issues. A few backlashes here and there but overall I felt pretty confident after a few casts.

I definitely need to practice accuracy and control, but that will come I’m sure. Thanks for all of your videos dude

Using the fore finger on the retrieve is something I haven’t been doing, great advice, makes perfect sense. Thanks.

I needed this. I have avoided Baitcasters for this reason. I'm ready to give it a try now.

Tyler, once again, thank you so much for an amazing video. This is the second time I’ve watched it. I picked up a bait caster from a friend who gave up, and I think the reason he gave up is because he didn’t watch your video and understand all the important, basic steps of setting up the rod and reel. I look forward to moving behind the spinning rod and seeing how this works. Thanks so much. I’m actually at a little local pond, practicing at the moment, watching the video at the same time.

Thanks for the tips bro. I have encountered a lot of backlashes since I’ve used baitcastors but I watch YT vids like yours and it helps me improve how to use my bait castors.

What I do sometimes when I get a backlash, instead of pulling out more line, I walk backwards until the backlash is gone then I reel in my line tight, LOL Sometimes I have to walk backwards for alot of footage. Probably looks silly but hey, it gets my line back in the reel where it should be. Thanks for this excellent video Tyler!! Happy fishing Y'all!!
Update: Thankfully I don't get that many backlashes anymore. Practice does help and I have tossed out my line alot over the months! LOL

I like how Daiwa has their spool tension to where it has just a little side to side play. That’s how I setup all my reels whatever the brand. I think it’s better to use the magnetic brake rather than tension, because that puts more resistance on the line and your lure won’t go where your rod tip is pointed.

Got my first bait caster 3 days ago OF CORSE IT WAS A LEWS!!!! And I’m absolutely in freaking love with it. Defiantly a huge difference from hearing that reel pealing line but thanks to your videos I only had 1 BAD backlash. After that it was smooth sailing caught my PB on my new baby today. Absolutely love it but I will say I can’t overhand cast only side cast, I’d love a video on how to flip cover/ skip docks

i bought my first baitcaster yeasterday, trying to adjust things, few bad cast and than i got the thumb trick, no matter what lure i put on, i casted them far and quik. many small quick cast. this thing is awsome, so fun and i feel more connected with my rod. more control. i thought it will be more trouble to use this but it was less trouble 😂 i should have done this before

Thanks for the great tips. I have been away for fishing for a long time so it’s a nice refresher.

I really appreciate this video. I recently bought my first baitcaster, and I've been practicing short casts in my backyard and got a few small backlashes and 1 birds nest so I'm going to try everything you mentioned in this video

Great tips Tyler. Never thought to use the index finger while reeling in loose line. I would always try to find a way to eliminate the loose line by turning my body or walking it out.
