DR. MARTENS Review | What's Up Doc?

I also recommended a few alternatives to the classic Doc Marten, which I think are a much better value overall.

There are plenty of reasons to pick up a pair of Docs, but there are also a few critical issues with the 1460. It's not a terrible boot, but you should know what you're getting into with these combat boots.

I cover the style, leather quality, sole quality, fit & sizing, durability, and more.

I bought a crazy horse 1460 in 2013, applied mink oil, or just plain mineral oil regularly, I given it to my eldest son 6 years ago, until now he still wearing the boots regularly, best investment I ever made on a pair of boots.

Solovair boots are so much better. If you can do a review on them, you will see. They are what docs use to be, before docs went to Asia in 2003. I have solovair boots and they are far better than docs and with a shank.

As someone who's been wearing the brand for 5 years and has a lot of knowledge about how to take care of them it worries me how many people are claiming they are bad quality even tho they don't take care of them i have multiple pairs that are more than 4 years old and still look as good as new it just comes down to taking care of your boots and a lot of people seem to forget that part general rule of thumb, wax your shoe once a month twice a month if you wear them a lot. if living in a country that has a lot of rain or snow don't forget to use a water resistant spray as well this can be used once to twice a month depending on the weather (don't forget to rub in the spray since leaving it on there isn't gonna do the trick)

Dr.Martens is just a cool high top sneaker with style options and should be treated as such they're not even that warm and you can wear them in the spring with ease, hell the company even makes the same shoe as a low top. Personally I love them but never thought of them as a "combat" boot, I just prefer them to an adidas high top.
If I want something warm and durable I'll switch to my Salomon boots.

I love my Docs. I also hate my Docs. My logical brain hates them, but part of me just likes the way they look and feel. So, I keep them around, but bought a pair of Beckett Simonons for actual wearing a real boot. Also, congrats on getting close to 4K!

I’ve had my docs for over 3 years and I use them 3-4x a week.

I had the regular 1460 years ago and they sucked to break in, but I have a pair of pascal ambassador DM's I love the way they look, the leather is gorgeous and soft. Mine were worth the money to me I wear them 3 times a week.

I’ve had a pair of DM’s 1460 made in Thailand for nearly 8 years now, paid 90£ brand new in London. I wear them most days in any type of weather or situation. They are made with a kind of creased leather on the upper, greasy look, all black, stitches included, with 4 hooks instead of the top 4 holes, commando soles, can’t remember what they’re called(anyone?)…I love them. I recently got a pair of MIE in oxblood and I’m impressed! Great quality, classic look, hard to break in but worth it. Too much hate for doc’s, try to get them at a fair price and take good care of them, they will last! ✌🏻

Dr. Martens are not okay. They suck. But Dr. Martens has something special. The AirWair sole. It's extremely soft and bouncy. You can run in them like it's a sneaker. The way that the welt is welded on with a fire knife means that rainfall will not leak into the shoe.

Ultimately, Doc's are kids boots. Boots you wear when you're used to wearing sneakers and shoes last about 6 months. When you grow up and buy some nice shoes that get new soles and last a decade or more, you don't consider Doc's anymore.

I wear mine on work for a year now. No cracks. You just have to clean and wipe dr martens Wonder balsam once/twice a year because the leather may dry

I have Dr Martens from the 80s and 90s and I'm still wearing them.

You should do a review of the Made in England boots. I just broke in a pair of MiE Chelsea boots and they're great. Better materials and workmanship.

Higher end Doc Martens are decent. The "vintage" line are made with Horween leather. Resoling would still be difficult, and otherwise are only meh, but they at least have good uppers.
