DIY Wood Fired Forge Trial & Error

After spending a day playing in the blacksmith shop at Old Mill Pond Museum, I decided to try making my own wood fired Forge. It seems the design will work, but the cinder block pads I used can’t handle the heat. None the less it was a fun project.

That is a really cool design. Looks like it should work really well. Maybe you could replace the concrete blocks with some fire brick.

Get some old or unused ceramic tiles to line the inside, might help to distribute the heat more evenly across the bricks!

Try improve your insulation it's probably going to hold the heat a lot longer and get a lot hotter

Don’t use concrete blocks unless firebrick. Or make your own with waterglass and concrete mix.
