Omega-3 fish oil can dissolve Styrofoam due to a chemical principle known as "like dissolves like." Both fish oil and Styrofoam (polystyrene) are nonpolar substances, meaning they lack distinct positive or negative charges. This similarity allows the nonpolar molecules in fish oil to interact with and break down the nonpolar polystyrene chains in Styrofoam, leading to its dissolution .
The rate at which fish oil dissolves Styrofoam depends on its chemical form. Fish oil in the ethyl ester (EE) form is more nonpolar and thus dissolves Styrofoam more rapidly than the triglyceride (TG) form, which is less nonpolar .
It's important to note that this reaction is specific to the interaction between fish oil and polystyrene. The human body does not contain polystyrene, so consuming fish oil does not pose the same dissolving effect internally. Both EE and TG forms of fish oil are considered safe for human consumption and provide similar health benefits .

That's absolutely correct. Bend an orange/grapefruit/lemon/lime peel in half to spirt the oils on your hands/clothes/whatever to remove tar or asphalt. The oils will quickly remove the tar w/out hurting ur hands. Another case in point.

edited: alright guys i know we consume lil bit of microplastic here and there overtime.
just because you eat 200g of potatoes dosnt mean that % of your body is made up of potatoes.

As a curious kid, I used to melt styrofoams with cooking oils. He definitely proved some of us are easier to manipulate than others.

🙄 Fish oil can be caustic to plastics and polymers but is 100% good for the human digestive tract.

Coke can be used to clean dirty battery terminals, the acid and carbonation helps dissolve the corrosive layers.
