How to Walk Rough Terrain

Walking on Compacted Gravel.
In my opinion, jagged Gravel is the most difficult terrain to walk on, barefoot.
I consider it easier than walking barefoot on a Hiking trail or Urban trail.

This terrain shows the benefit of a larger surface area and the dampening ability of the Forefoot strike instead of Heel strike.

This carries over to walking on unyielding surfaces, such as the concrete slabs that our walking paths are made of.

Sir, I just want to say thank you again for changing my life by teaching me how to walk. Zero-drop shoes and proper technique, I've gone from not being able to stand for longer than a few hours at most without severe pain, to hiking all day and really roughing it sometimes barefoot and still can't get enough. I can spend more of my life doing what I love, helping people.

I will say it's been a long learning curve and I need to keep coming back to re-train as my body adjusts to the proper movements.

I've gone from hating hard floors because they hurt my feet... To being able to enjoy walking outdoors barefoot on almost any surface.

One of the barefoot runners said (I think it was barefoot KenBob) if you want to learn how to run barefoot start on gravel and it will force you to go at a slow pace and perfect your form you will not over train since it is not comfortable.

What I have learned is that you learn to rock or twist your feet off of painful rocks. Allot of it is mental. Your mind will tolerate the pain quicker than your feet toughen up to it.

Dope. I'm currently training on a mix of dirt and gravel. One hour a day. Training barefoot while learning to spread my toes as I step is probably the most potent recovery tool I've found for my leg impingements. Years of yoga did fuck all. Time to get real and build from ground up.

Did you always have such padded soles on your feet or does the padded layer grow there with barefoot walking? I feel my bones are close to the skin but l love barefoot and l am hoping it would improve.

Sharp gravel is better than my least favorite path type, dirt trails with random sharp rocks.
