This film was definitely a sleeper. Who knew that it would one day have a cult following? But it is actually surprisingly good. Christian Slater is mesmerizing here. And the storyline very accurately depicts teen angst taken to the extreme. It's hard to remember just how passionate kids' feelings and emotions were when I was I high school...that parents and teachers were the enemy and that rock-'n-roll and self-expression could "save us all." This is definitely a movie that everyone who has ever lived through those turbulent adolescent years should watch at least once.

I loved this movie so much I dubbed it from one VCR to another using a blank TDK cassette then started going to the library after school to see if I could build Hard harry's pirate radio setup. Can't imagine if the internet had existed then.

When this movie was popular and christian wasn't super famous yet. I met him at the china delight at a restaurant and bar, he used the bathroom in Bellingham Washington. he was with two women and he stopped to talk to me, asked how I was doing and asked my name, but I knew I saw him somewhere. I didn't remember til days later. 😅 I was only 16 or 17 and I was the sober driver. I wished I knew I could have asked for his autograph 😊
