The unnecessary addition of bureaucratic processes has just one goal. Money in the pockets of people involved in these different layers.

Basically, we are a *License Raj* blame it on the British. Whatever said and done our *Babus* cannot get out of that mindset. Even Infosys had a tough time importing a computer in their early days. God knows how many trips NRN and Nandan have gone to Delhl to get it approved.

These changes will genuinely democratize food business. We need better entry barriers in terms of quality because its the fuel to body . I vote for these changes too

Still, so Mane restuarants using used oil, low cost material playing with our health and still get away with it.

India is a democracy, but the environment will never allow the democratisation of the food business. A restaurant and a hospital are highly regulated industries. A restaurant has the FDA, municipal health, fire, police, excise, labour, weights & measures, maximum retail price inspection, shop & establishment authorities who regulate the industry. A kitchen plant runs for breakfast, lunch, dinner - and the plant idles for the rest of the time.

The police licence is required so that criminals don't get in the business but alas there are always workarounds

i understand the need for character certificate, some one mentally unstable could poison the food in minute doses or just in one go and it would be a disaster.
