Jesus... I know I commented not a while ago on another video, but I have to say it: your reviews are the only reviews I truly find informative. You don't just explain how the game works - bah, you don't even explain the rules! - you explain the ESSENCE of the game and what kind of experience it gives to the player. I love this, you're the first reviewer who actually explained to me what I can expect from this game instead of how it works. Also you're the first reviewer who actually explained why this game is liked by so many, because from watching other channels I really wasn't impressed - and you did it within the first minute by explaining why movement cards can be crucial. That made me go "Oh, that is actually cool". I only don't like the random aspect, if I have to lose, I want to lose fair and square, not because I was unlucky and someone else wasn't. Still - you made me want this game.

Edit: I wonder what would be your take on Blood Rage... it's one of my most controversial buys.

I just wanted to say thank you for your reviews. I often struggle watching videos of board games due to having a dreadful attention span for visual media and having an eye condition that means I have to limit my amount of screen time. Your reviews strike a really good balance for me of length, informative content and engaging content. I really appreciate the time and thought you put into them.

I'm at an interesting point in my board game journey. My husband and I started playing maybe twelve years ago after stumbling on a FLGS looking for a go set. Two years on from that, I was working for the store and absolutely loving life. Seven years ago we had a baby, and our gaming basically ground to a halt. Now that baby is a wonderful kid that has developed his own love of games and we are suddenly revisting our collection and seeing it with new eyes. I've been using your reviews to help re-curate it to be more age appropriate and foster his enjoyment. It's been a really interesting process, revisiting gateway games I used to sell but personally dismissed as too simple or lacking the spark I wanted, suddenly considering three player games we'd always dismissed due to being aware they'd rarely get to the table, trying to weed through seven years of releases and see through the hype to the actual viability of the game, and suddenly assessing games by their length as one of the most important factors. It's been an absolute joy and really helped me rediscover a love of boardgames which slightly got lost in the intensity of motherhood.

I hope you get to experience a similar journey with your little one, should they wish to play them once they are older. Seeing games through their eyes is a wonderful experience.

(Also, I really recommend just grabbing one or two cooperative peaceable kingdom games when they're about three - a foundation in turn taking and treating board games as something that requires a level of respect (being put away afterwards, not deliberately damaging them etc) is fantastic, and their co-op games help manage the big emotions that come with winning and losing.)

Anyway, I apologise for the length of this, I just wanted to say thank you.

Actualol (John) great board game review as always. Only thing missing is your witty comedy and costumes, but the length of the video was just right. 2-4 Players is always nice to see and the length of 30-60 mins looks perfect. I might be adding this to my collection once I gauge my board gaming groups interest.

I really enjoy the format of short reviews by you. They are very informative and fun to watch. Nice change from 20min videos explaining the rules and without real review which are so popular. Keep up the great work!
You mentioned that deckbuilders are lacking the excitement, I agree but did you try Aeon's End? It is really awesome, I think you would like it a lot. Just forget about subpar quality of first edition (in few month it will come improved and looking way better). This game is the most exciting I'd played for quite some time.

I just played several times for the first time this past weekend at a local gaming con and really liked it. About ten minutes in I declared that Clank! was the game that Munchkin wishes it could be. I'm a big fan of deck-builders (and, if you haven't played Arctic Scavengers, especially with the first expansion, I highly recommend it as it's my favorite big box DB) and Clank! definitely creates a new experience with the board and choices you have to make. The only problem that I experienced that I feel like would knock it down a little bit is that I was the first out of the dungeon so I set the game end timer in motion but then realized that I was still going to lose based on how many points I had versus one other player who didn't even get out of the dungeon to get the 20 bonus points! He was able to get a lot more stuff while I was waiting to get out (all the other players died at the exit) and so I had to wait for the game to finally end even though I knew I was going to lose. Still, it's definitely a game I want in my collection as soon as it comes back in print.
