This is such a crucial conversation. THANK YOU for having Ai-jen Poo on as a guest.
Poverty (and low-income) is/are a real thing in this country.

Thank you for mentioning and highlighting the impact of the Filipino domestic workers here in the US for all of US.
The shout out has been long overdue.

Great point about how change is always a group effort. But groups are always out there, like potential energy waiting to be tapped. What gets them to come together around a singular purpose and message is usually a great leader like Yang or Ai-Jen.

Wow, I wish I could get involved in politics and on a potential Yang campaign. Unfortunately i’m just a nobody at a community college in Lousiana.

To be fair, I think the argument that poor/low income people "still can't pay rent" is kind of an excuse. I make about $12K/year and I can still pay rent- BUT, that comes with a HUGE decrease in expenses and QUALITY OF LIFE. It's argued as if it's not "possible, " but really it's about what's REASONABLE for people to endure most of their life. The reality is people can SURVIVE on very little money- BUT THAT ISN'T LIVING.

Also, property managers/landlords punish poor people by charging exorbitant late fees. So if you couldn't pay rent, now you have to pay $100+ on top of what you couldn't pay. In many other ways, society punishes the poor like this. Which only exacerbates the cognitive toll of poverty, and the deleterious mindset of scarcity.

more money than gawd as the saying goes. Yachts owners and dictators wannabes have more than enough for a mere mortal.
