Показать описание
Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is an inflammatory disease affecting the central nervous system, in which the substance called myelin protecting the nerve fibres in the brain and spinal cord is damaged, leading to scarring and the formation of lesions, or plaques, affecting the ability of the nerve cells to communicate with each other effectively. The onset of the disease generally occurs among young adults, usually around the age of 30, although it can affect older and younger patients. VIDEOGRAPHICS
