Gave 3 finger power chord a shot as I listened. That's WAY more comfortable! Thanks for this!

This was great! I had no idea why they were called power chords but now I know, and good to know about the very small differens between 2 and 3 fingers. Cheers!

Great explanation, exactly why I am só happy to know piano music, it should be made obligatory before studying guitar 🙂 really it makes it so much easier to understand if you basic musical theory was learned on piano, not guitar. But cool trick you show in the end! Love the handle in the middle of your Ibanez guitar body, really creative

I think you mentioned this in another video but I deaden the 6th string when playing A (the 5th and 4th string power chord) by using the first finger. Put the tip of the finger lightly on 6th string.
Then you can strum however you like and never having to bother about hitting the 6th string.

I have only played 2-finger power chords. I don't like using the pinky. It becomes a liability. Another thing that can go wrong. If I want to become faster at changing chords, I just practice it more.

If someone wants to play an interesting power chord, try playing the 6th string and 4th string and deadening the 5th (1-x-3 or 5-x-7 for example in tabulator-form).
Or if you want to play something really heavy, play the 6th and 5th string with your first finger and 4th string with your 2nd finger. Death metal-heavy. From the top string, that would be 1-1-3 or 5-5-7 in tabulator-form.

I can't even lie, if I'm trying to do a 5th string power chord, I just move my pinkie and ring finger one string over, and keep barring the 6th and 5th string with my pointer, it's essentially just 2 octaves mashed together, and it sounds heavier for no extra cost since you're just playing the 5th of the power chord on the 6th string instead of just leaving it to not be played lol

Are you any relation to Fran Blanche ?

You are always mentioning how you have small fingers. I think it would be helpful if you measured them so we could compare.

Whenever I play power chords I can’t even get through a verse, my thumb and palm on my fretting hand get so fatigued I have to stop and rest, this doesn’t happen with open chords, help me what can I do
