Yes disabling Warden spawning still works in Java Edition 1.20.1. I built this and it worked for the Ancient City I built it in but the chunk loader didn't keep wardens from spawning in Ancient Cities 1000's of blocks away. Subsequently, I built it in the spawn chunks and it has disabled all Wardens in my world. Also I recommend The Archivists farm to disable the Warden as its even easier for 1.20.1.

I would also consider grabbing a comparator output with a 200+ tick pulse extender to verify whether the shieker is still screaming, and automatically turn off the system when it stops working. The benefit of this being you could also optionally set up an ender pearl stasis chamber and have it bring you back if it manages to break.
