HEATING a Pop Top & using a Truma iNet Box

So it's FREEZING outside! How do you heat a pop top and are they warm enough to sleep in all year round?

It's one of the most frequent questions we get asked so we decided to demonstrate how warm and how quickly it heats up. Also in this video we explain how the Truma iNet system works - or that little flashing box in the cupboard as it's often called!

Thanks for watching, please feel free to drop us a comment and let us know how you heat your van.

Thanks for sharing that, good explanation, very useful. Don't think I've seen any videos properly explaining the iNet box! The app looks a lot easier to use than the panel itself. Big benefit of the Truma is the fast heat up.

Blimey, I need to look for the inet box thingy in our van, never knew it was there!

Very interesting video, learnt a lot, thank you unfortunately a bit too late for us as our first van had a pop top with Truma heating but we’ve a new van on order (no pop top). We found the pop top chilly even in August but we didn’t at that time have the van heating on. Now I understand more about the iNet function …. genius🙂. Good to also see that the entrance to your pop top has a flap/cover to hide the workings when not in use. Our Burstner Eliseo didn’t and it looked messy and unfinished, well done to Autotrail👏🏻. Look forward to more of your videos. Ruth 😀

Thank you Iain, this was helpful to me. While I have a Wildax Pulsar, I had no idea about the little box in the cupboard or how I could set my Truma heating from a distance. Absolutely brilliant xx

Another great video. You 2 are such a great double act. Had Iain ever been a Science teacher? I think he would be very good as one. Loved the fact that the system works using text messages rather than data. A very cheap alternative to having to top up a data sim monthly.

Really informative blogg just shows how quickly the van heats up 👍🏻
Another note do you think it’s possible to add more solar power to the van ? And is there room to add more battery power just thinking about off grid capabilities cheers keep the bloggs rolling you guys 😃

Bravo great that. I think that just about seals it for us it’s the expedition 66 model probably the back end of this year or next years new version. I’ll blame you two if it’s no good😜

Hi lian thank you so much for another very informative video, ye two make a great duo 🤣, anyhow I was wondering if you can have the heating on while your driving?
probably a stupid question but i was just inquisitive, probably no, but i was just wondering. the truma iNet system seems very good and the fact if your on a mountain top somewhere you can still put the heating on and have it nice and toasty when you get back to the van 👌, fantastic system
Thanks again for your very helpful video

hi Ian and Caroline quick question is the Truma heating system an option over the whale system on your camper or the expedition 68 love the channel and the cooking and drinking segments cheers.

You two always manage to make things interesting. Iain… who do you think you are with your fancy thermometer. You’re like James Bond with your gadgets and your gorgeous Bond girl by your side. ( see what I did there Caroline! ) I have no idea why some vans have whale instead of truma but I expect it’s because whale is cheaper. Cheaper isn’t always better. I personally like the truma system although I don’t think I would ever use any of your fancyness to test the temperature. Iain stop showing off. Caroline keep doing what you’re doing. Great info and fantastic delivery as always. Iain you were ok too I suppose. Enjoying the videos. Keep em coming 007. 😉

Im not a huge fan of this system, had many issues with it, my next van will have diesel heating and separate water heating system, when it works it heats well though but can be unreliable and the interface is poorly thought out, just my experience
