The law should be: if they violate someone's ESTABLISHED constitutional right, they should be required to be terminated. Zero tolerance.

If a police officer doesn't know something as basic as when they're allowed to compel someone to identify, they haven't acted in good faith to educate themselves, and their departments didn't act in good faith to train them. It would be like if a cook didn't know basic cross contamination protocols, like washing your hands after handling raw meat, then telling the health department that they were acting in good faith. Not to mention, acting in good faith isn't a valid defense for the rest of us when we are actually attempting to follow the law but inadvertently run afoul of it. It's absolute insanity

Ex cop here as well, and I also had to educate myself after the academy. That's the sad truth. A badge and pissing of police (POP) doesn't give cops the right to violate a citizen's rights.

I never ceases to amaze me how many cops think that just because "We got a call" you automatically lose your rights.

This guy did a great job! He wasn't a jerk about it or cursing, taunting etc. He just stated his rights, told them to check the law and didn't back down yet allowing them to hang themselves and hopefully learn the law they're hired to enforce. Impressed!

Love this video, it showed the follow through from an interaction with the tyrant police officer that violated his rights. But the thing that hurts the most, and that is the most disheartening. Is the denial of a lawsuit after a clear violation. It’s disgusting and there will never be changes made when there is no consequences to their violations of the rights that they swore to uphold.
