Don't things in orbit around the earth have a tendency for that orbit to decay over time? If the Black Knight is upwards of 10, 000 years old, then obviously something on the ship is self correcting its orbit when needed or it is using anti-gravity technology to keep it right in a static locked in spacial plane and its not orbiting earth, earth is just revolving beneath it.
