Greta Thunberg arrested during climate protest in London

Greta Thunberg has been arrested in London during a climate protest at a glitzy oil industry summit.

The Swedish activist joined a large demonstration in central London on Tuesday outside of the Energy Intelligence Forum at the InterContinental Hotel on Park Lane which draws some of the most powerful players in fossil fuels.

Video footage showed Ms Thunberg, wearing a badge with the slogan “Oily Money Out”, calmly listening as two police officers spoke to her, with one holding her arm.

This is a planned publicity stunt. She knows that there will be little punishment. The law needs to be changed so that the punishment is not worth taking for the publicity. Give her a 1 year sentence.

Sorry, Greta, but being arrested while knowing full well you have immunity and won't actually face any consequence doesn't show us a strong fighter for a cause, it shows us the class of people we despise as they get to live a life unlike our own, one of accountability.

I was arrested for littering once. By allowing my cigarette butt to get blown off the top of a bin and refusing to pay a fine i cannot afford. As a result i have been rejected from every job i apply for as i now posses a criminal record. Thanks UK police for going for the low hanging fruit and messing my life up before it has even started properly 🥳👍👍👍
