Attacking infantry that stays below 30 width is probably better with 3 battalions of artillery so it has 27 combat width, which fits really well into terrain

You know what's better for port garrison? 10 width infantry with just engineer and maybe aa and that's already enough to defeat almost any naval invasion the ai throws at you and it's so cheap you can procuce 72 of them quickly (which is the number of divisions one general can command with the defend area command)

I also make 42 width infantry with a bunch of arty, not really useful but it does easily break through normal infantry, but personally I like 9-1-1, with the extra 1 being SPAA, I can keep the cost of SPAA at 13 so that it only takes an extra 468 cost to build while being able to bog down early tank divisions.

My go to inf templates are 18 & 10 width. 18 is my frontline inf divisions & 10 width is my “reservists”, the cheap divisions I use to defend my coastlines as well as smaller less crucial fronts.

I almost exclusively use 5 infantry 1 support arty. You can easily hold any line regardless of supply, industry, manpower etc. and if you are a major nation then you can pop out 240 of these by 40 at the cost or like 14 mil factories and then spend the rest of your industry taking over the skies and getting top of the line tanks

Even if you dont have a big industry you can often invest some factories into self propelled artillery. Then you can make the 9 - 1 Infantry template but replace the artillery with the self propelled artillery. It will literally melt anything, especially if you add in inter-war flame tanks.

7/2 meta is old. These designs are great especially the starting ones for smaller countries but I'd advice adding a third artillery battalion into the attack division.

Engineers are a must in literally any template especially defense one (for entrenchment).

For port guards you go 5 infantry with engineers.

And then a good infantry unit that can both attack and defend well is 9/1 (9 infantry and 1 artillery battalion) with support AA, support arty and engineers radio might be good if you don’t micro but if you micro it’s useless and use support AT if the AA isn’t enough piercing.

If you don’t want the extra soft damage, you can also go 9/0 with support arty AA and engineers it can also attack

Literally all you need is use 10w inf as garrisons for ports (but lots of them) and then make 20w inf with aa, shovels and arty as support. The new terrain changes in AAT basically reverts the prior terrain changes so 10w and 20w are optimal for inf and 30w is optimal for tanks and mech. Recon and logi is useless on infantry also. Logi is okay for tanks but better off using flame tanks and signals for the last 2 supports for tanks.

That multirole div is such a bad move. It can and would defend well but attack would be absolutely attrocious.

Overfilling support companies is a massive hit to ORG. Recon is useless on INF Div, AA and Logi company is situational.

It eats so much equipment pointlessly that going for inf + heavy tanks as a breakthrough division is much more efficient for minors.
