I learned something new about the MCPO's. My Dad retired as a Chief Yeoman. He served on the USS California BB-44 from 1939 to just before the Okinawa Invasion. He was a damage control switch board operator aboard California on the day of infamy.

Thank you for doing this, shipmate! You helped me memorize everything in time for the day I ship out in less than 3 months in the freezing 🥶 Chicago weather

Great vid shipmate. Salute to your service and joining as a E1...E3 and below are usually addressed only by their last name. But they may be addressed by their job description: Seaman (white stripes), Airman (green stripes), fireman (red stripes)...only applies to dress uniforms.
E2 and E3 dress uniforms should have specialty marks. My dress blue uniform out of boot camp, had my 3 stripes, but no specialty mark...if you get issued dress blues or dress whites without no specialty mark, you need to go to commissary, and tell them to swap out your patch for one that includes your specialty mark.
Senior Chief in boot camp is addressed as Senior Chief. But in the fleet, just call them Senior. We dont really interact with Master (Masa) Chief...

I really enjoyed this. I just dislike how they don't have the other E-9's in the book on ranks and recognition. I was wondering why they had a MCPON in chain of command but not the latter, but thank for making this. It really helped me understand.

Seaman recruit had one strip and it was 6 mons between SR to SA, SA to SN and SN to PO3. PO3 to PO2 was a year. PO2 to PO1 was two rears. PO1 to CPO was four years. CPO to SCPO and SCPO to MCPO was two.

Great work! I believe it is “foul” anchor vice “fouled”. I got that from a retired Navy MCPO who is a naval historian.

Great job. As a retired CPO I wasn’t happy that all ranks are wearing khaki blouse. I worked hard to get to wear khakis. I get that your trousers are navy blue aka so dark it looks black. Lower enlisted should wear a light blue blouse like we had with our dungarees.

I SERVED HONORABLY FROM 1989-2003. IT WAS DIFFICULT, SOMETIMES TO SEE COLLAR INSIGNIAS WHEN OUTSIDE LOOKING INTO THE SUN. WHEN I WAS IN IT WAS BETTER TO NOT SALUTE AND OFFICER, THAN TO ACCIDENTALLY SALUTE A CHIEF.

I seem to recall the Navy having a couple of Petty Officer chevrons in Gold instead of Scarlet (on dress blues or coverall collars) as recognition for extra good conduct & number of years in service ??

Back in my Navy days your rank was your title or status in the Navy (E1 for enlisted and O for Officers) and Rate was your Job or what you did in the Navy (RM, BM, and so on)
