My teacher said I "had no class", so I went home.

My husband's family owned a farm. His father moved away and started a business. He says he's never met anyone who grew up on a farm who wanted to be a farmer when they grew up. Also, if a farmer can buy a tractor one time that takes the place of paying ten hired hands, he's going to do it. Historically, the shop keepers and tradesman WERE the "middle class."

As Aristotle said, a city governed by middle class is ruled like a brotherhood

The middle class is important because it is a bulwark! 🇺🇸 On the one hand, the middle class is a bulwark against the utopian excesses of the rich upper classes who think they know what's best for the rest; and on the other hand, the middle class is a bulwark against manipulation by the rich of the poor dependent classes. The middle class is less susceptible to manipulation by the rich because they aren't dependent but independent and self sufficient; and the middle class is less susceptible to utopian excesses because they still live grounded in reality, such as by working in small businesses, often with their hands, or needing to deal with people from all walks of life, taking care of their families, attending to their religious duties, and suchlike, rather than able to have the luxury to do little else besides sit and think of ways to tinker with society and "change the world" with their like-minded elite friends.

The cost of energy also fell a great deal during the late 1800's.

He is much more articulately saying what I have been telling people since I was in my 20s. He's 100% right and this measured deflation could rebuild the American middle class as well as help lift the quality of life significantly for impoverished people.

Whether deflation is good has to depend on where you start. We are currently in state of prices being heavily manipulated (often inflated) by government policies. From that point, some deflation would certainly be healthy. With rare exceptions, goods and services should be allowed to find their real and natural value.

Classic case of reversing cause and effect, or failing to realize an effect can have more then one cause.

This is exactly why we need to drain the swamp.

Please read "Progress Dollars from the Production Parabola." You are talking about the seller's market before 2000 when "progress was our most important product." We have now entered a buyer's market, and the question is, "Who do these corporations think is going to buy their stuff after they lay us all off?" Production capacity controlled production from1800 to 2000. After 2000, demand controls. This is a great opportunity for our society if we understand.

There are times when you're looking at the wrong camera. Try using one, then you won't get confused.

Both mild inflation and deflation can be economically stimulating. The key is the rate of change, not the direction. Slow and steady wins the race.

This video doesn't take into account that during that same period workers were treated like garbage.

Lovely! Great to learn the difference between the Great Depression and the Great Deflation. Productivity! Adding value to civilization!

Like you said, there are two ways to ensure economic growth - productivity or money printing. From the state’s perspective, it’s much easier to turn on the money printers than to slave drive adults to work.
