Rock and Roll Doctor
-- Lowell George, Martin Kibbee

There was a woman in Georgia didn't feel just right
She had the fever all day and chills at night
Now things got worse, yes a serious bind
At times like this it takes a man with style I cannot often find
A doctor of the heart and a doctor of mind

If you like country with a boogie beat he's the man to meet
If you like the sound of shufflin' feet he can't be beat
If you wanna feel real nice, just ask the Rock and Roll doctor's advice

It's just a country town but patients come
From Mobile to Moline from miles around
Nagodoches to New Orleans
In beat-up old cars or in limousines
To meet the doctor of soul, he's got his very own thing

Two degrees in be-bop, a PHD in swing
He's the master of rhythm he's a rock and roll king

If you like country with a boogie beat he's the man to meet (he's the man to meet)
If you like the sound of shufflin' feet he can't be beat (I say he can't be beat)
If you... If you wanna
If you wanna feel real nice, just ask the Rock and Roll doctor's advice

Lowell was such a phenomenal guitarist. Saw Feat at the Shrine Auditorium in LA in 1978 from the eighth row. Those were the days before Ticketmaster. Staying in line for tickets. A long line of Feat freaks. Those were the best days.

Could a dude possibly EVER look more cool than Lowell George during this performance? It’s impossible.

Wow, Lowell's really singing great here! Instrumental work not too shabby, either.

There are very very few songs ever written that come so close to perfection as does this song.
So sad about L.G.

It's taken me a while to come around, but I think I finally get it with these guys. What a unique sound. Also this song is a tribute to Dr.John, unless I'm mistaken. Anybody who pays tribute to him is alright in my book!

Sound quality on this is excellent. There's a real spatial quality...at least as I sit at my desk with stereo speakers and subwoofer.

Yep, my all time favorite band.
I lived in D.C.during this time period (including the "Lisnrr Auditorium shows in W 4 C.)
So saw them 2 or 3 times a year, there or at Warner Theater

Can someone tell me about Martin Kibbee? I looked up where he co-wrote Dixie Chicken and Rock and Roll Doctor. These are two of LF's best songs, but it hit me that he hasn't been heard from or little is known about his life and association with LF and Lowell George. I'd love to know.
I'm a Feat Lifer, no matter how much the music changes, I still come back to Little Feat for great funk.
