Wanted to give #shorts a try, but animating on a square canvas is surprisingly awkward when it comes to staging & scene composition. I also wanted to get more practice animating on 2's. It's an efficient & common practice in the animation industry; a lot of my pre-Salmon Ruined animations were done on 1's unnecessarily b/c I didn't know any better ^^;

Still wrapping my head around that shift but you can tell I got more comfortable w/ it over time. For example I think Callie looks kinda choppy b/c I started w/ her, but later characters like Marina & 8 look slightly better animation-wise.

Also sorry there's no BGM. I was looking for a chill Splatoon track to put in, but then I saw a spoiler & did not want to continue searching ._.

Just so y'all know, yes I did learn halfway through making this that Marina & 8's cases were not as literal as Callie & 3's were. But by that point, too much animation had been completed to turn back! Is this what they call committing to the bit??

EDIT 10/9/22: I've noticed the same questions keep popping up in the comments, so I thought I'd save us some trouble & answer them here ^^;

Q: Where are Agent 4 & Pearl?
A: Since YT shorts aren't wide screen it was too difficult to include them, but you can see where they were in this community post:

Q: Didn't Marie sniping off Callie's hypnoshades snap her out of brainwashing, not the Calamari Inkantation?
A: Yes, Callie was dazed after her shades were shot off, but looking closely you'll notice she keeps attacking until hearing the Calamari Inkantation restores her memory. So technically both the sniping & the song were necessary (singing before removing the shades would probably fail), but here the dialog only mentions the latter for the sake of tighter joke-telling ^^
