Which do you prefer: USB-C or Lightning?

The EU isn’t a single country by the way ;-) and if the law comes in in December 2024 then that would mean the iPhone 16 would need to comply as they will be selling it after the law come into force. Plus as they usually sell previous models alongside current, the 15 (at least any models they don’t discontinue) will also need to comply.

The thing is with USB-C there are no rules of charging and manufacturers can do whatever they want with it. There are cables in the market now that will carry 100 watt of power. There are cable that only support 7.5 watt. There simply isn't a standard.

Apple ticks me off with limiting their own products to their consumers.

Why even limit charging speeds? I mean yeah to “protect it from *”too much”* fast charging, ” but that’s insane.

You know what’s wonderful about our phone accessory comity? You said Apple is planning on doing this limiting-nonsense with a “special chip” right?

So what’s stopping people from buying the dang cord, dissecting it, and then transforming it to were we have MFI certified Third-party USB-C cords? It doesn’t make any sense!

Apple’s wasting so much time and effort in putting up all these “fine-walls” to their products.

The reason we, the people who want USB-C, wanted said USB-C on iPhone’s is because Apple’s lightning cord was to damn slow, whereas USB-C was fast and adjustable.

What is the point of enforcing USB-C if you’re going to do the same damn thing you did to your own lightning charger, slowing the speeds?? Again, it doesn’t make any sense.

I think that it is all just leaks and rumors at this point. I think that the regular Iphone should fully support USB-C (v4) and Iphone Pro Thunderbolt 4. Of course, that would mean that you would need a TB cable for the pro. That would differentiate the 2 models and keep everyone happy?

Is the MFI chip (in any form) found in USB-C cables supplied with or for Macs or iPads? If not then Apple could open its self up to legal backlash in the EU.

The US and Europe iPhone 14s are already different in that one has the SIM tray and the other doesn't. They'll either:
Not put MFi chips into USB-C cables (the iPad/MacBook doesn't so MFi is a bad idea to begin with).
Exclude MFi chips from Europe cables.

USB-C has an ID chip anyway that’s used to identify if it can take 10w or 100w, it’s essentially the same as an MFI. I don’t get why the fuss, it’s no different to trying to charge an android with an Amazon basics cable, you’re still not going to get higher level PD with it, it’s literally not capable of supporting it no matter what platform it is.

I honestly don’t care if we get usbc or not. I already have it for my iPad that I don’t charge often but my iPhones use lighting and does the job for me.

USB-C is gonna be great. It will help charge these devices faster and help transfer bigger files faster. It’s a huge win for us.

What if I’m saving for iPhone 15 and I’m from Czech Republic. So I rather go to usa to get “UNLOCKED VERSION “ ASAP
