Why do so many older orthos, discredit pain (especially in young women) I saw 5 different orthos I had multiple rounds of PT I spent SO MUCH MONEY that I didn’t have and I gave up. I still worked I pushed through (because bills) I was 30 when I started throwing my leg. Because I pushed through I wasn’t taken seriously and I thought I was being week. Finally through a regular I found an MD who IMMEDIATELY was like AVN but so much bone loss I needed a THR. I’m 35 and 2.5 years post op. And I’m my self again. Why did it take so long…

I have multi focal bi lateral Avascular necrosis and it’s constant excruciating burning pain debilitating dose of steroids for extended period for Graves’ disease...I’d rather still have my bug eyes from graves than what I now have. It’s awful.

This is an awesome straight to the point video. Can you now please share some information on how to best deal with AVN? If you can, please include your thoughts on how stem cell research could or won't be useful in treating the illness. Thanks,

Diagnosed with Avn in both hips 7 years ago and still don't have much problems in my hips matter of fact I was told I would need both replaced 3 or 4 years after the diagnosis. How long can I go before I will know when it's time before I will need attention to this condition and btw it came from steroid overexposure.

I dislocated my left hip years ago, and I am curious about the risks of completing a marathon/ doing longer distance running. What are your thoughts?

I have this and I’ve been diagnosed. The pain is intense and usually forms around the hip flexor/groin area.

I have avascular necrosis in my right hip. No steroid use. No alcohol abuse - maybe one alcoholic drink a month at most. So what caused this?

I'm an army retiree too (retired in 2002). It got so bad that I hung on to the shopping cart and drug my leg behind me. Saw an orthopedic surgeon in 2018 who pushed my leg all around and took x-rays. He said I was just stage one. Since then I've had NO PAIN. That was 5 years ago. I feel a twinge occasionally but no pain! So what's up?

Just watched another video (link below) - atherosclerosis. Yep, I have that too. Stents and heart surgery.

Dr I have a question I played football for many years and in my senior year of college I did experience a pop in my right hip, but didn't feel pain afterwards through the years I would always feel sorness on and off and just brushed it off until last summer during the lock down I went jogging and midway through felt a pop again and from then I had really bad pain. Now 2 weeks ago I was in so much pain I went to the Er and then they found that I had significant bone death and that it had collapsed. I went to a specialist where they prescribed for my pain "steriods" and ibuprofen which do nothing for the pain what are you're recommendations while I wait for my surgery

I may have this I've been to the hospital today for an Xray and it showed up white areas on the top of the ball joint, I have to go for an MRI to look into it further to see if it is Avascular Necrosis.

I have been diagnosed with SLE since 2012 and have steroid medicine. It's been 2 months I am having pain in my hip joint. Got the MRI report saying Avascular Nacrocis. Doctor told me to take complete bed rest for 3 weeks and another orthopaedic told me that need to do an CT guided biopsy. Please help me understand if I can get rid of this without any surgery.

I have Lupus and Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I’ve had hip pain for years ( I’m 42 ). I saw a video from Dr Graham Hughes who discovered APS and said avascular necrosis was common in APS . So my dr did MRI on both hips. Both have degeneration but right says it has physiologic fluid. When I searched it, it looks like it’s the beginning of avascular necrosis. I don’t see dr for few weeks still. Can you tell me if I’m right please ?

Has anyone ever seen or heard of someone having a complete recovery after being diagnosed with AVN?

Can you have avn for 5-10 years without first detection? I am a 43 yr army veteran, and I believe this started when I was in the military . I got out in 2017, and first detection was right around 2020 from the va. Since September of 2021, I have had both hips replaced. Any feedback would b great. Thank you

my hip pain is lateral especially playing tennis when I run hard and stop abruptly, plant both hips, knees bent, my right lateral hip which is non dominant side. Would you say lateral pain is probably not avn of the hip, my primary dr. says is not hip joint. but did not get x ray yet,
Physical therapist believes it is TFL
