And as usual, those same people will claim to be all about "diversity"

And they have no life experience. Out for themselves. No idea of service to a higher ideal.

They are all part of the same club and we aren't invited.

So agree. We have long been without the diversity of life experiences in the political world.

Been saying this for years,
There should be a Qualification to be in Politics, ie over 30 held a job for 10 or more years and no Lawyers or Journalists.

That is why they make unrealistic decisions and don't think about the consequences like destroyed businesses or crumbling infrastructure.

That’s because it’s now time for our politicians to be elected from the general public, not from elite institutions people in this country need to learn and understand that they are not being represented by the Labour Party or the conservative party or the liberal party. They are being represented by universitiesand it’s wrong vote reform, bring normal people back into the House of Commons

That problem goes into debate too. In the past there were widely different perspectives and views - now you have four panelists all the same and no challenge.

And they wonder why people are disillusioned and disenfranchised with elites. Despite his intellect, my dad remained grounded and they did not like it.

The largest group of "careerist politicians" in AU appears to be lawyers (the Industrial Complex that invented the need for it's services), no matter the party they belong to. The Spainish in their Civil War had an effective solution to laywers, unfortunantly, Antipodean cemetries are invariably surrounded by wrought iron fences, which lack the visual eurythmy of bullet holes in rubble /brick walls to cemetries (channelling the Clash)

They're totally divorced from the common man and reality. I think democracy in the UK is more vulnerable to the whims and machinations of the current breed of politicians now than at any time in my life.

Sad! I wasn't that impressed with John Major at the time, but little did we know that he was the last Prime Minister we had who'd ever got hid hands dirty.

Trade unionists are politicians and should be trusted just the same.
