Biden commutes dozens of death row sentences to life without parole

President Biden is commuting the death sentences of 37 inmates, leaving only three people on death row in federal prisons. According to the White House, the commuted sentences will be reclassified to life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Our justice system is as messed up as the rest of government. I am so happy to see this happening. trump will have to find another way to make himself feel like a big deal.

Remember all the innocent people, that were murdered through the death penalty. Often black people and minorities, poor people that couldnt afford a good attorney, people that were coerced by police and state attorneys to false statements of guilt, people that took the fall for loved ones or other people and didnt commit the crimes themselves.

saves millions of dollars that way. we avg 500k for a lifer vs 1-3 million per death row inmate bc of the approx 13 yrs of appeals

life in prison can be worse than death. a lifetime to ponder the crime, the loss of life and to consider how they might try to save their own soul in whatever time they have left is just.
