And while tons of bakeries around the country make pastéis de nata, the original version is made at a Lisbon bakery using a 100-year-old secret recipe. It's the only bakery where they can be called “pastéis de Belém.

I remember visiting Lisbon and Belem a few years back. The taste of the tarts in this store are hands down the best

Pastéis de Belém. I remember a time when it was a much smaller place, which served other sweet items as well. But even then, the queues would extend around the building. My parents went there in their teens after school way back in the 1970’s. If you travel with them, inside their cardboard package, for two days, they still are delicious and soft. Proud of this (my) Portuguese heritage.

I've been going to this bakery ever since 2006 and they have the best pasteis de nata in the world. Their coxinhas are pretty good too, super recommend.

My great grandma taught me her version of this. It is my mom’s favorite. This brought back many great memories. Thanks for sharing.

Pasteis de Nata were brought to Macau (Portuguese district in China, ) and adopted by Chinese bakeries to create Egg Tarts, and made into a staple in HK cafes with milk tea.

I've been there before like around in 2014, and it was the BEST treat ever.

In Brazil this pastry is very popular with the name of pastelzinho de belém, every good bakery has this pastry and is always so good you want to full your mouth with it everyday

Love these tarts. A shop in town makes them after they moved to the area. Would love to eat them in their country of origin

Everyone in my family loves these! And yes, they should not be too sweet or else they become too much. And the absolute best thing is that LIDL has been selling them for quite a few years here in the UK.
