The trigger warnings on Storygraph were life changing for me. And the "pace" helps me stay out of reading slumps: I filter my to-read by medium or fast paced. Helps keep me afloat between classics.

I like that they have more statistics and better recommendations. However as a German reader I do not find many German books in my language and if so the editions are often without a cover, it’s the English translation of the German author or English books do not have the German editions to chose for your library.

I hope they add them in the future. Until then it’s not as user friendly as Goodreads for non-English users who like to read in their native language.

I recently started trying StoryGraph and I like it so much! My only issues are that there isn’t much of the community options the way there are in Goodreads (book clubs, lists, quizzes, the ability to ask authors questions) and it has a much smaller audience which means it lacks in reviewers. Other than that, I’m really enjoying it (especially the UI, it’s so much better and more up to date)

Just sharing that if you can't find a certain book, or edition in a specific language, or edition with a different cover, etc.. you can add the specific edition you couldn't find yourself. The app accepts user added books to help build the platform :)

On the story graph users can make up reading challenges (not just based on number of books read) which anyone can join. Would be cool if you came up with one and everyone here could join and follow along. The reading challenge feature also tracks all the books which people submit to each prompt so you can start to see a little categorised library of what everyone's reading

you can also give .25, .5, and .75 ratings on storygraph, which was a huge plus for me personally!!

I started using this in beta and kinda was like eh at first because it wasn't great, still under development, etc. but now that there are more users, more books uploaded, it's so worth it. So many more options for categorizing, sorting your TBR, adding trigger warnings, etc. And Goodreads just promos the same problematic authors over and over on their main page. Also the founder Nadia Odunayo is amazing and really took user needs into account when creating and editing the app.

I made the switch last year and never looked back. I love all the stats it gives me, and the way I can organise my books is so much easier. I also love that StoryGraph has a DNF function and the pages you've read (if updated) still count towards your final pages goal for the year

I love the storygraph algorithm for recommendations, I can get recommendations for a specific mood I’m into right now which is awesome

If you haven't yet I highly recommend to pretty much everyone Leena Norms' video titled "Goodreads is dead. What now?" in which she made the transition to The Storygraph while the site was still in beta. In the video Leena also talked to the founder of The Storygraph (who btw is a black woman and describes herself as an avid reader). It was really great to hear from someone who loves reading talk about how they put their passion for something into a website.

jack: if a book has more than 500 pages, I'm probably not going to read it
also jack: reads a little life

Honestly kind of a power move to upload this one hour after making a goodreads video on your main channel lmao

Now following you on storygraph. Oh btw, they do take feedback from users quite actively. Do check their public roadmap to get an idea of what they're planning to do in future and how soon you can expect those changes.

imagine how awsome this will be in the future- we are right at the start and its allready so cool and exiting. its made me think about how many creative things could be done with The Storygraph now that we have a platform that clearly cares about reading

What I love about Storygraph is honestly the stats. I’m a sucker for a good graph. As someone who will read pretty much anything you throw at me, Storygraph has helped me actually see patterns and understand my own reading habits better. I’m excited to see how my stats will change over time, and I love that you can compare your reading stats from different time frames. I like the tags as well because it helps to understand why they’re recommending a certain book, and I love that it gives you an idea of the pacing, which gives me a better chance of finding books I’ll actually LOVE and not just kinda enjoy.

"Erotica is not just my jam"
Madonna stans: offended

And let's not forget that Amazon's prize policy harms independent booksellers which is problematic...
