Mazah is finally taking shape! That aside, sorry about any audio issues you may notice. We had some issues with our mic throughout the recording, and while we tried to edit out all the noise pollution, the audio isn't perfect. Enjoy anyway!

The “Evil Team” for this region should be actually two rival teams like in Ruby and Sapphire. One team looking to destroy the history of the region to advance into a new modern future, and one looking to destroy the new developments in the region in order to restore the society of the distant past. This plays in the games themes and allows for some fun design differences.

Something to consider in later drafts as well is interconnected/nonlinear routes, so that the region feels more connected between its cities and less linear like a game

Kinda thinking about it, the first gym being ghost is kinda scary since a solid number of moves you’re most likely going to have access to are normal type moves

Things I REALLY want to see that pokemon hasnt been doing with the newer games:
-Water routes! you go back once you get surfing and suddenly, new exploration!
-Route loops! Two ways to get from one part of the map to another, but one is blocked at first! Going back down that other blocked path later as a story element! Like gen 4!
-Hidden ways! A cave or secret path lands you back behind or into a new part of a landmark you've already visited! Maybe there's just an item. Maybe there's a mystery~

México has these towns called pueblos magicos. They have a general feel and design to them that I think would be a great idea for a battle area.

Here's an idea for an extra location. Maybe a fisherman's village or port town from where the player can hear about the Legendary Sirens or even be the place where their quest starts

This map is wonderful and beautiful, but conceptually from a route design, it’s way too linear and hardly ever has the player head back to a previous area or even somewhat travel off path, just as an alternate path to a location or to a special, yet optional, area, like the desert from Hoenn. I’m guessing the red line doesn’t show all the routes, but still, landmarks and extra locations far of the beaten path would help

This channel, this concept, and literally everything about this is unbelievably cool and exciting. It’s so refreshing and the love for pokemon really shines through, someone PLEASE make a fan made game for this.

the art is absolutely stunning, it captures the same energy that an actual mainstream Pokémon game has in its environment and the ideas are fitting. however, like others have mentioned it is very, very straightforward. i think a nice fix to this would be to remove the red line pathing, you still know what way to go but there are more options.

maybe take a mountain trail and find some rock pokémon, venture deep into the volcano through a hidden pathway and discover strong fire pokémon through the use of rock smash and strength, find a small hidden village in the large woodlands where you are free to talk to the lively inhabitants and learn about the history of the region? something along those lines.

Beautiful art and great video! For this region, I think it would be cool if the upper part of the peninsula was a post-game area similar to the northeast island in Sinnoh.

Also, it would be neat if there were two evil teams (like Magma and Aqua), with one representing staunch traditionalists who hate all modern technology, and one representing big corporations whose drive for progress leads to corruption. Though, I'm not sure if this would work with the legendaries you guys have planned.

25 years of playing Pokemon, and it took me watching this video to realize all the houses in Gen 1-4 are all facing South, and that is a super weird revelation to me.

Seeing this fleshed out makes me want local legends as Pokémon, like a ghost warrior pair of legendaries after the story of the volcanoes Popocatepetl and Ixtalzihuatl, kinda like Latios and Latias, but these 2 are lovers in their story, so not siblings lol.

Your video on the first gym leader design was a lot of fun to watch, so I’d love to see one on the player character!
As for this one, the map is gorgeous, and while I can’t imagine the work that would go into revising it, I’m glad to hear that you’re flexible with the design process and willing to add more and rearrange areas once the story starts to come into picture

Hi all! This is the last time I will post this idea as a comment but I hope you all like it :) How about a pokemon based on the story of popocatepetl and Itztaccihuatl. (my device can't add accents to the letters but they have some accented letters). It is a story of two volcanic mountains in the itza popo zoquiapan national Park. A princess, Itztaccihuatl and a warrior, popocatepetl fell in love. The warrior went to battle and the princess' father told her that popocatepetl had died and she died of grief. Popocatepetl returned and never left her grave, dieing so both bodies became covered in snow until they became the volcanic mountains. They could incorporate Itztalacoaliuhqui, the aztec ice god who has a pointed obsidian head for a duo of ice rock types that appear in a pair and resemble a healthy relationship. It would be a duo of pointy headed semi humanoid mountain children who evolve into a more abstract design😊

I loved watching the processes for this, the gym towns currently give the region a diverse urban landscape as is, I'd love to see the side areas take more from Historical/Archeological and Current/Cultural areas, a mix of which would fit into the theme of the story pretty well! I'd be thinking like having a cool dichotomy between older important Indigenous places like the Olmec city of La Venta and the Maya city of Tulum with the more modern Indigenous population centers of Oaxaca and Yucatan. I'd also find it neat if there was reference to the oft-ignored communities of Afro-Mexicans, who come from a diverse background of Escaped US slaves, Slaves brought during the triangle trade, immigrants from Africa, and immigrants from other places in the Caribbean most notably. They face a lot of trouble currently in Mexico being recognized due to racism both in and abroad from Mexico, and the populations are usually centered in specific areas in Mexico because of this. I think giving that some recognition in the region would add an extra layer of depth that not a lot of Mexican-Inspired media brings to the table!

I'd love to see future iterations of your map to include wild zones like the ones featured in Sword and Shield. You could create at least three distinct zones based on a jungle, a desert, and a zone that is primarily aquatic like an underwater coral reef.

I do think having a few videos on the gym leaders and other Trainers is important, something I often see other fan-attempts at Pokemon miss is a solid human cast to compliment the world and mons. The player character is the player character and usually just a vehicle for the, well, player, but the rest are important in selling the world.

Regardless, the map looks great especially for a first iteration, and can't wait to see how it evolves as we all learn more about Mazah for the additional locales. Fun times ahead!
