Swapped 2.0l for 2.2l, knockoff weber carb, pacesetter exhaust header. Bed is made of pine 4x6, headache rack pine 4x4, decking is old oak/chestnut flooring treated with burnt motor oil. Went with the 5 speed transmission from the new(to me) motor. Changed rear ends, too. Truck was 750, whole donor drivetrain was 250, and most of the bed material is recycled. Nickel and dime came to around 600. Weighs in at ~2900. Hoping for excellent fuel mileage and a little utility.

I would reccomend one of these mazda early b series to anyone who likes to do their own wrenching. It seems really well built (made in japan), maintenance is easy, and even brand new parts are dirt cheap. Before you buy one be sure to check the frame thoroughly. If you live in the rust belt, the boxed-in frames get eaten from the inside out.
