The first one is more realistic, goreng is struggle to survive when he's at the bottom and have to become cannibal while the protagonist in this one just casually survive for a month without food

In the first movie they had a system of absolute anarchy. In this one they had a strict system that was enforced with absolute tyranny. Taken together, the movies show what happens when people try to solve the problems of one extreme by taking things to the opposite extreme. All they ended up doing for the population as a whole was to exchange one form of suffering for another.

The Drowning Dog - the painting that is shown in the movie - is made by Goya and is part of a series of paintings (aka the Black Paintings) he made when he was in a very low point in his life where he had lost the hope in mankind by the horrors he had seen during his life caused by war and famine. He had seen how man was, at his core, egocentric and monstrous.

A very good choice of painting for this movie that also focuses on this theme.

As much as I like the concept of these films I just can’t get into them, they just try to hard to have some deep and meaningful message.

I thought it was about time they gave more info about this "Company" and what the outside world looks like that make people volunteer for "Degrees". Why do they use children? and why is it so many? What happens if u ride to the top? Sooo many questions i wanted answered

Focused more on demonic scare tactics than storytelling this time. The first film was more poignant this one was pointless, hopeless and pretty disgusting. I actually cancelled Netflix afterwards every single film is so satanic

Watched this all the way through....the ending is confusing. I like how the platform workers changed prisoners to different "cells". If you like gratuitous gore....yup....this is for you! BTW...I watched this twice.
