Papa Overgaard went a bit on a ramble here, but these are my favourite videos

Thanks, Thorsten. If the M lens is similar to the SL 35, you should see a wonderful drop off that’s just like you were shooting a 1.4 instead of the “boring” 2.0! Another of Peter’s miracles. BTW, I bought one of your wonderful camera straps for my M10 about a month ago - black with orange trim - and absolutely love it!!

Thanks Thorsten, well I finally bought my Q2 and I’m finding I really enjoy the 28mm field of view. I’m blown away by the clarity. The lens seems to produce a glow in some of the images which I love.

Love your videos. I also find it impressive how committed you are to pronouncing "photographer" and "photography" in the most Danish way possible.

I've placed pre-order via BHPhotoVideo on this since it was available for pre-order.
I also got the 35mm f/1.4 floating element. Spectacular and versatile lens but kinda big. I would imagine using the APO on trips since it has close focus range for further flexibility and probably don't need to use my phone for some moderate close-ups.

Thanks for the explanation, maybe a Q3 with apo lens is coming! That would be awesome.

I have the lens Thorsten. I am in CPH and you are welcome to try it out if you are here. It is better then 50 APO and in M10R it is amazing.

I still have the good ol' "King of Bokeh" version 4 Summicron. I love the way it renders wide open, with the slightly crazy background blur. And if you want ultimate sharpness, it's can still compete with modern lenses stopped down to F5.6 or F8. Never stops amazing me how highly resolving these old Leica lenses can be stopped down a bit.

I thought that that the 75 f2 apo had a built in lens hood, the one you showed had a vented lens hood attached, was that an earlier version ?

Thank you Thorsten. I hung on to the end and understood enough to look further into what an APO lens is and what it can produce. Do not be afraid to do another video of this length or style.

35mm is Ansel Adams favorite focal length. 2.0 is the best aperture as well for the best bokeh. a 35 and a 80mm.

Great video. Very informative!
I have a Digilux 2 and it is still pretty enough to use in 2022.
The lens is really good and the Digilux 2 even have a video function.
The video provides its own unique and special characters.
I love my Digilux 2.
Thank you.

Are the colours / tonal / contrast a lot better on new 35 Summilux or 35 Apo?

Good news for viewers: the Don is right. You do not need this masterpiece in order to take great pictures. I use the original eight element '50s Summicron on my M3 and I cannot imagine that the APO would be markedly better. There is a mountain of fine old Leica lenses available that will not savage your bank accounts.

Thank you, Thorsten! No mention of the APO Summicron 50/2.0? Or did I miss it? That should be a lens most like the new APO 35, in your favorite focal length?
