An important milestone in the long long journey to fusion reactors. It remains to be seen how the engineering issues towards building a practical reactor pan out.

China is going full speed to be self sufficient in its energy needs. This will be a long time goal, perhaps 20 or more years. I believe China will increase the number of nuclear power stations, but using thorium, not urranium. Thorium is much safer than uranium and China has found a way to treat nuclear wastes by reducing its radioactivity by 90%.
