2022 Haval H6 Hybrid review: RAV4, Sportage and CX-5 challenger gets a hybrid hit!

preview_player
Показать описание
Haval’s parent, GWM, is an emerging automotive powerhouse which knows that to build a reputation and capture new customers it must match or better well established offerings from long trusted brands.

A relatively small player in the hotly contested medium SUV category, how can the Haval H6 cause a rusted on Toyota devotee to think twice before jumping into a RAV4, or a Subaru loyalist from lining up for another Forester?

One way is to develop a hybrid model to compete with the popular petrol/electric versions of those segment stalwarts, and even though a drive-away price of around $46K isn’t all that cheap, you stuff the car with leading edge safety tech and standard features to deliver a premium feel and solid value-for-money equation.

But what about the drive, and day-to-day practicality? Can it beat the market on ownership costs?

Who better than our very own Andrew Chesterton to get to grips with this significant new model and grapple with those questions? He’s even been living with a petrol-only H6 Ultra on a long-term basis.

Take it away, Chesto...

I picked up a H6 Hybrid recently.
It is super smooth, super quiet, with heaps of grunt when required.
It definitely doesn't get fuel economy of 5.2L per 100kms, more like an average of 6L to 6.5L with city driving.

Interesting review. These Chinese manufacturers are really coming on strong, which can only be a positive for competition and value across the industry.

ChasingCars managed to achieve average 5.7L/100KM fuel consumption.

interesting fuel figure, a couple of other publications got less than 6 litres, 8-10 litres is quite a significant difference, were you mainly testing on highways or urban scenario?

I think you are claiming that RAV4 starts from 36k that is not the case the very basic boring model start from 41, 390 so please do your research. The video is posted like a day ago and the Toyota RAV4 hybrid haven't been 36k for a while. The only bad thing is that haval put the pricing based on the their most expensive model, otherwise if they have put it on the base model no one will buy the more premium petrol haval. that is probably why they have chose to do this. Also if you can find a brand new for 36k please organise one for me so I can buy it immediately, I'm in Melbourne. I don't mind waiting for one year. Yeah not going to happen and that was pure lie don't know why you state this like I'm saying haval is ok but buy RAV4 is because it is cheaper, ridiculous

How do you think this front grill will age? Typically bold designs look outdated pretty quickly but it also depends on the build quality. Thanks!

can we drive it in snow conditions? what snow mode does?

There are many fearful, ignorant people who believe that this car is manufactured in the Solomon Islands.

Never thought I would say this but for a Chinese SUV it looks quite nice, the grill reminds me a bit of the Peugeot 3008. Only things I would be worried about are resale value and reliability given its an all new car from a relatively new brand

Test drove one they other day. Like others have mentioned the steering wheel is thin, doesn't have wireless Apple carplay/android auto, AWD would have be awesome. Service cost avaerge $450 which seems pricy in NZ. Wait and see if any better comes out.

As always your videos are fab. Appreciate your work.
But I have confusion if you want to choose between Rav4 HV GXL AWD Auto CVT which is now $50453 and Haval H6 Ultra hybrid which is $46103 then which one would you go for.
I am getting both the cars in next week for the above mentioned price, so availability is not the issue for me.

I am really confused and unable to make the decision. After sale market of haval is not so good as compared to Rav4.
And now they have raised the price of rav4 so I am not sure is it worth to buy Rav4 or haval at this time now.
Is this something you can please guide on.

By any chance if you can please reply little early it would be really appreciated.

I average 5.5L/100km in frugal driving with my RAV4 Crusier FWD Hybrid. However, making very short trips (a few kilometers) in cold weather, I managed to do as poorly as 7.8L/100km over a week.

I ordered this car 4 months ago and it was meant to arrive mid April. Plus I also ordered a petrol h6 7 months ago.

Any information please as to when they will be actually arriving? Thanks for the great review.

Great review brother, watching from South Africa. We usually get the same cars as Australia, with us being a left hand drive Southern Hemisphere market like you. But the H6 Hybrid has not reached our shores yet. I’ll wait.

They priced it too high for what it is, unfortunately.

They should have based the hybrid variant on the base model.

This guy doesn’t know how to drive the car efficiently. The fuel efficiency figures he gets are much higher compared to other reviewers. Even on the H6 petrol model, his fuel efficiency figures were unbelievably high around 12 Litres something per 100 Kms.

Intro: “….So can the H6 really take on Toyota?” So where was the conclusion to the question you posed??
