Still remember how the first time I heard the name my immediate reaction was that KILLS people!"

I like how there are two different ways to get to Paarl, one much earlier in the game than the other, and that it's almost totally unbeatable if you meet it during the earlier visit to the area and actually pretty easy if you meet it during the later visit. A great way to show a character growing in power over time!

"Purposely vague" the two words that describe blood souls to its core

Someone may have also mentioned this, but we can actually infer a lot about Paarl from the description of the Tonitrus. It was invented by Archibald, a man fascinated by the darkbeasts who sought to artificially recreate their sparks. Incidentally, this is also where bolt paper and the lightning based hunter tools come from, and that gives us a hint as to why Paarl is found in this exact location.

Considering that we find the tonitrus and plenty of bolt paper around yahargul and on the corpses of their kidnappers, it seems a healthy assumption that Archibald was working with the school of mensis, possibly to create weapons to control the kin of the cosmos. They probably gave Paarl to him to study and make more weaponry.

Perhaps most interestingly, we find that the choir also utilize his weapons and tools such as the tiny tonitrus. I think that this further suggests that they were used in the handling of the great ones and their kin.

Anyway, thanks for reading! I just thought it was interesting and maybe relevant ♥

I love Bloodborne because of the purposely grim aesthetic it has, you can read all the lore you can possibly read but some of it is just vague leading you to wonder what happened to some of these people, and that is much more terrifying than what they could've shown

I had a little theory that paarl was a hunter from loran that fell to a similar beast plague. Evidence being the human skeleton with an abnormal skull. The ability to activate lighting "powers", instead of like most other beasts their "powers" being innate. Example blood starved beast's poison and the watchdog's fire. Also when you wake him up his sleeping position is more akin to a fetal position rather then a slumbering beast. I dont know really there's some inconsistencies in this theory but I like to think that it's true.

The dark beasts are just the most interesting monsters in bloodborne for me. They are also really obscure which just drives my curiosity. In addition to the silver beasts they are also connected to the abhorrent beasts. The fact that Paarl also makes me wonder who he was and why he is named compared to other beasts such as the blood starved of cleric.

I kinda loved this thing’s design. It’s like fighting an angry storm cloud.

You Sir, have been cluttering up my YT shorts with your fancy-schmancy Bloodborne analysis shorts so much lately, that you persuaded me that there might still be stuff about BB out there that I haven't thought about extensively. You got yourself a new fan today 😏

The School of Mensis seemed to specialize in the study of light, optics, and electromagnetism. The equations which model the latter can also be used for the former. The mirrors that are scattered everywhere are tied to the former, as are the pools of mercury/quicksilver. And the Mensis Cage resembles a real life tool called a Farraday Cage, used in demonstrations of electricity. That is why Paarl is found within Yaharghul. This also ties in with how the One Reborn seems to be a reanimated corpse, which calls to mind galvanization experiments performed in the 1800s and which served as the basis for Frankenstein (Mary Shelly's lover was an enjoyer of such public experiments).

I would really like to explore proper ruins of Loran to find out more about the lore and find an upgraded version of the darkbeasts. (No chalice dungeons)

Something I always thought was a very interesting thing to consider with the body horror of blood-borne.
There’s just the sense to all of these creatures that there’s nothing that can be done to restore them to what they used to be.
Like there may be a chance for them to regain their minds but their bodies are Forever changed.

I have seen an interesting theory on Darkbeast Paarl, but it is only speculation/headcanon, but the theory is that Paarl was an escapee from the Hypogean Gaol, one that dug the tunnel to the gate of Old Yharnam and fell to beasthood while locked outside. It also talked about how Paarl may have been a hunter who hated the Great Ones and their kin, presumably hunting them out of hatred, and later manifesting it's electrical powers as a beast. However, this is only someone's headcanon, so take with a grain of salt.

There's also the Great One Beast which, while technically not canon, is still a VERY interesting possibility to think about.

There is actually very simple explanation for the thing noticed in the video - "Blue spark" in all instances like Tornitrus, Paarl, hunters in black hoods using it - it is metaphore for first tries in using electricity to "ressurect" human body. Meanwhile legit Great Ones are inspired purely by organs found in human body during autopsy. Youtuber Charred Thermos explains that in absolutely great, comprehensible way, I recommend to see his worka and cheerish it. ^^

It's the most succesful atempt at understaning Bloodborne's deepest lore, and it took 8 eyears and someone with medical knowledge to explore this rabbit hole. <3

It was stated that Pthumerians once walked alongside Great Ones before Great Ones evolved. Perhaps we have the lore wrong and Loran is in between Pthumeru and Yharnam, and thusforth Darkbeasts are ascended Pthumerians.

I like the lightning motif of darkbeast paarl because lightning is just that.
Its a brilliant flash of light that blinds your eyes from everything and everyone, and there is even a brief blindness after it.
And when you shocks youself, what do you do? It jolts you from whatever you are doing and makes you look at the shocked place, if even for a moment. It makes you take assessment of yourself.
