Perfectly on time, as i just started researching for an entry level amp/dac stack. Informative video. The thing is, this stack is a really stellar value, especially considering its good availability in Europe.
I'd love to try a schiit stack or jds labs myself, but oh man those are hard to get in europe (or just far more expensive or used).

The power supply is large for a technical reason. It's AC, with enough power to allow the amp to drive hard-to-drive headphones. Using an AC supply makes it much easier to create equal positive and negative voltages inside the headphones amplifier itself. Using a smaller DC supply would mean having to add a complex switching power supply inside the amp case. JDS uses a similar setup.

I have connected E30 ( pre mode - to be able to use remote control) with tv and computer (samsung TV through optical, computer through usb) output to JBL lsr305 Studio monitor but sound is not so loud.. eventhough LSR 305 is on max volume I have to put E30 at approx -15 to -20 to get moderate listening volume.
Should I buy Topping L30 and use it as preamp with E30 ( on DAC mode )
I have heard that headphone amplifier and preamp are not good to use with active speakers...(because of the impedance) they should be used with headphones only. ( its better to buy amplifiers and preamps that are not made for headphones? )

If you don't want the remote control of the E30, D10s can do the job exactly the same. You will save about $30.

Good review. How much better is this combo compared to the Zen DAC? I have a £500 budget and am looking to get the Sundara with an amp and DAC. Should I just get the L30 to start and get a DAC later, or is the Zen DAC, I'm actually thinking of the Hip DAC, a good option? Thanks for any help.

I have the e30 connected to my receiver and really like it. For headphones/IEM use I bought the iFi Hip-Dac and love it. I really like the iBasso IT01 with the Hip-DAC. Total cost about $250.

EDIT: to do Topping the credit they've got coming, they have now offered a free replacement for anyone with an affected unit. And did so remarkably quickly. Top guys.


People may want to hold off in these with there being multiple reports (4 that i could find ) of the L30 burning out and frying the headphones along with it. Have a look at the forums on whether the issue is resolved before purchasing.
