General History: USS Arizona

A ship that almost everyone has heard of. A ship that, in another world, would have been forgotten as 'just another Standard'. A ship that will never be forgotten in death.

USS Arizona is a battleship that had a fairly standard service history. Her fame, or infamy, coming entirely from her death. The attack on Pearl Harbor. The most well-known scenes from that attack all relate to Arizona.

And for that, she will always be remembered.

My Uncle Melvin had a friend who went down with the Arizona. He was only 17 years old, and was supposed to go home a day later. Thank a vet for their service! I do all the time!

Wow you are a true patriot. You could hear the sadness in your voice and the struggle you had completing the episode. That is something that cannot be faked. There are few that love this country and those that protect it as much as you. Thank you!

Ari's story is one that was definitely ended too soon, though it's always interesting to wonder how her legend would've unfolded had she survived that faithful day. Would she still have the recognition that she had in the original timeline?

May she and her crew rest in and be given all the Donuts that she can eat

This was a really well done video! I found your channel because I noticed a lot of my subscribers watch your stuff as well. So I thought I'd check it out and I wasn't disappointed.

Actually the Battleship Arizona was damaged by the Battleship Oklahoma, when the Oklahoma had collided during this exercise at sea. The Battleship Arizona was supposed to travel to Bremerton Naval Facility at Bremerton, WA to undergo another refit was supposed to be there on December 7, 1941. The damage to the Arizona had delayed its departure from then Naval Station Pearl Harbor

“Not our problem until it involves our money…” ❤

Interesting to note was how outdated all of these Standard type battleships were by 1941 — for the war that was coming. The famous picture of the hulk of Oklahoma lashed to an Iowa class battleship provides the stark contrast. Still, the standards were modernized or rebuilt and served in all theaters; including the last battleship vs. battleship encounter.

Of at least equal merit as the stowaway and worthy of mention is the 1938-39 use of the U.S.S Arizona as the flagship of Admiral Nimitz.

I have a picture of the Arizona. It’s sailing a river not sure where exactly. The picture frame has navy anchors on the corners.

The Arizona had high efficiency scores and was lent to Hollywood more than once because she was the pride of the fleet.

Event someone ratted old Madeline Blair out, it's hilarious that she managed to make it for 5 weeks. You'd have to have some balls to try pulling something like that.

For those of you into conspiracy theories. This video left out something important about Arizona and Oklahoma. On October 22, 1941, the battleships from Pearl Harbor were on maneuvers. The battleships had been sailing in line, making 90 degree starboard turns in unison. The battleship USS Oklahoma missed a turn and rammed the USS Arizona. Both ships were damaged but the Arizona took the worst of it, ending up with a hole in her side 30 feet wide by 18 to 20 feet wide.
